HALLOWEEN

A long time ago, the Celts (who lived in Ireland, Scotland and Wales) celebrated the new year on 1st November, and the night before that, 31st October, was the eve of the Celtic new year, called "All Hallows' Eve". The Celts believed that souls of dead people came back to the earth during that night to find a new body for themselves. Of course, no one wanted a ghost to  live in his body, so people dressed up to look like the souls of the dead.

When Christianity came to Ireland, people no longer celebrated the new year on 1st November but they didn't stop the tradition of dressing up as ghosts. When millions of Irish people immigrated to the United States in the 1840s, the tradition came with them. These days, on 31st October every year, people in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada celebrate Halloween. It is a celebration mostly for children, although more and more adults celebrate Halloween as well.

Nice to meet you! Our first eTwinning dialogues :)

The project Chitter Chatters was inspired by the students struggle with speaking English. We often noticed that even good students, who score very high in their English exams, can't really express themselves or their needs in real life situations. The main aim of this project is to help our students overcome their fears and communicate effectively in foreign language.

Now, we have been working on the first topic : 'Nice to meet you'.
Our students wrote down simple conversations and recorded them on camera.
In addition, they presented their dialogues in a form of comic strips, word clouds and animations. :)

Australia - the Land Down Under

Australia is a  beautiful, unique and diverse country in every way - in culture, population, climate, geography, and history.Australia is an island continent and the world's sixth largest country. Australian culture is as broad and varied as the country's landscape.
First inhabitants, the Aboriginal people, are believed to have migrated from some unknown point in Asia to Australia between 50,000 and 60,000 years ago.

Australia follows a Westminster system of government and law inherited from the British who originally colonised the country.
There are two main political parties and a number of minor parties, which make up the Commonwealth Parliament. Each state and territory also has its own government.
