LONDON RAP SONG ;)
Do you like London? Do you like rap ? Do you like singing? Let's sing together ;)
LYRICS:
Big Ben is not a person
Big Ben is not a clock
Big Ben is not a tower
It's a bell: ding dong
A Science museum, to learn about space
Astronauts, rockets, awesome place
At the British Museum you can see
Egyptian mummies; it's free!
700 species in London Zoo
Reptiles*, Amphibians, Invertebrates too *[1st time only]
Penguins waddle, crocodiles snap
No you can't stroke a crocodile on your lap!
Round and round goes The London Eye
It's 130 meters high
Buckingham Palace is where The Queen sleeps
And The Prime Minister at Downing Street.
If you're tired, and need to eat
get fish n chips and a cup of tea

The 400th anniversary of W. Shakespeare's death - 23 April
William Shakespeare was an English playwright and poet, widely
regarded as one of the greatest ever English writers. Some of
Shakespeare’s better known plays include ‘Romeo & Juliet’, ‘Hamlet’
and ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.
Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 before moving to London to become an actor at age 21. Shakespeare wrote different genres of plays throughout his career, starting out mainly with comedies and histories before moving on to tragedies as he grew older.
In 1599, along with some fellow actors, Shakespeare built a theatre on the South Bank of the River Thames which he named ‘The Globe’. It was here that many of his plays were performed. Today, visitors to London can still watch Shakespeare plays at the restored Globe Theatre.
William Shakespeare was a very well-known character in Tudor England. It is thought that Elizabeth I was a fan of his plays.

Fun fact: William Shakespeare was the only member of his family that could read or write! ;)

St.George's Day - 23 April
Although it is not a big event or a national holiday, St George's Day is
celebrated on 23rd April each year. It's a great excuse to enjoy or
learn about some of England's customs and traditions, and also to think
about knights and castles and dragons.

EARTH DAY - 22 April
'Treat the Earth well. It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children'.
Kenyan proverb
Earth Day, which was established in 1970 in the US, is celebrated on 22nd April each year. It is a day to think about our planet and what we can do to keep it special; to think about saving water and energy, reducing pollution, recycling, protecting our animals, trees and plants, and generally getting kids interested in protecting their environment.

NATIVE AMERICANS
People lived in
the United States long before the arrival of Christopher Columbus and the Europeans. These people and cultures are called Native
Americans. Sometimes these people are called
Indians or American Indians. This is because when Columbus had first
landed in America, he thought he had sailed all the way to the country of India. He called the
locals Indians and the name stuck for some time.
In the United
States there were Native Americans in Alaska, Hawaii, and the mainland of the
United States. Different tribes and cultures lived in different areas. In the
middle of the country lived the Plains Indians, including tribes such as the
Comanche and Arapaho. In the Southeast area of the country lived tribes such as
the Cherokee and the Seminole.
Today, some of
the descendants of the original American Indians live on reservations. These
are areas of land set aside specifically for Native Americans. This helps to
protect their heritage and culture. However, only around 30% live on
reservations. The rest live outside the reservations just like anyone else.
